What's it like to be queer in a totalitarian state? MAW is a narrative driven adventure, where you explore your identity as a queer wolf detective working for the state. Use your animal instincts. Sniff for clues. Interrogate and date other anthropomorphic characters that dynamically react to your personality, appearance and previous choices. Will you fight your instincts or accept who you really are and face the consequences?
While playing as a wolf detective, you will have to use animal instincts to solve cases. Sniff and lick to gain information, talk with other animal characters, form relationships with them and even date them. However, you have to be careful that you are not found out. The state does not take kindly to animals who are different from the norm, nor is the mother of the protagonist.
Other characters will dynamically react to your actions, personality and looks. After work you live a normal life. Go shopping, talk with your mother, do all the stuff that a normal person/animal would do. But even these "normal" activities may prove challenging for someone who has to hide their true self. Your instincts are telling you to be yourself, will you fight them or listen to them and proudly be who you are and face the reprecussions?
MAW is developed by Zakroutil, a solo indie dev from the Czech Republic.
MAW is based on my own experiences as a queer person and is also inspired by the lives of other queer people in eastern Europe. Through the eyes, ears and other senses of the anthropomorphic main character, I want to give the option to explore these themes to people who might not have the freedom to do so in real life and give hope to people who are struggling with who they are.
